Before the Photograph: The Art of Observation
Birdsong used to be background noise. A summer in eastern Finland changed that. This field note explores how Merlin Bird ID, binoculars and patient observation have reshaped the way I find—and photograph—wildlife.
The Lake Never Repeats

Every frame was a brief encounter with something that would not happen again.
